Four New Mobile Casino Games by Microgaming – But Are We Impressed?

Three we expected and the fourth sneaked in under cover. What did we think of the January new Microgaming mobile casino games? It’s a very mixed review.

We love telling you all about new casino games. And for once it’s not just new slot releases, but you also get one new mobile blackjack game, which is a rarity in itself.

Whilst some may be expecting use to review the Gung Pow Online Slot Game, that one came out at online casinos only, and we are afraid that we are not called LuckyMobileCasinos.com because we like to confuse people.

Plus, if its good enough, it will eventually make it’s ways to mobile, and then we will review it for you.

For now, let’s look at the four new mobile casino games, what you can expect, and which are worth playing.

Big Kahuna slot

Set in an exotic volcanic island, this is basically a simple fruit machine dressed up as a video slot.

Don’t believe us, well the fact this Microgaming casino slot first came out back in 2004 (so over a decade ago) should give you an idea of how ‘retro’ this Big Kahuna mobile slot actually is.

Not that old Microgaming games aren’t worthwhile. The glorious and original Avalon is still a favourite of ours which we go play at on many occasions.

Two bonus features, but no free spins

As such this 9 paylines game isn’t at the cutting edge of mobile slot game-play.

Now don’t mistake this as the graphics and sounds being bad. They are not. As with all Microgaming products, the sounds are clear and the images are sharp.

But it’s all very simple. The exotic fruit symbols (kiwis, pineapple and lychee instead of melons and cherries) sit beautifully on the screen next to the two bonus symbols that trigger simple click me bonuses.

On one, the Volcano bonus, you’ll be offering fruit to appease the volcano gods. In the Mask bonus, you’ll be clicking on mask to reveal the riches hiding behind the faces.

Both are good, but pays pay more if you get at least four symbols to trigger the bonus games. Get three (more often than not) and the winnings are, at best, a consolation prize.

We know Big Kahuna is a favourite with many, but with plenty of far more high thrill games out there, we suspect this one will be rarely spun.

Wild Birthday Blast video slot

We are cheating a little with this one, as it’s actually a 2×3 Gaming slot, but distributed by Microgaming.

That means that when you open this little beauty it won’t look at all with what you’ve come to expect from the software that brought you Thunderstruck II and Playboy.

Actually, technically it does remind us a little of another Micro slot, it feels a little like Mega Moolah, but on acid. Instead of a cartoony jungle you get the same animals, from elephants and monkeys and giraffes, celebrating someones birthday with gifts and 30 paylines of mayhem.

Surprisingly good fun

This little beauty doesn’t provider you with anything ground breaking, but it does have 10 free spins with a 2x multiplier that shows up fairly often.

Then there’s the random click me bonus, that’s more of a distraction than there for real wins, but still entertaining.

The real star of the show are the stacked ‘gift’ symbols that, when they show up, will randomly turn into any of the other symbols on the reels.

When one stack shows up, it can or cannot bring you riches. But when you get 3 or more full reels of the same symbols stacked across the reels, then the heart starts racing.

It would need some harder wins to make it a four star game, but but Birthday Blast slot is still solid entertainment.

Sure Win slot game

Out of the whole selection available, Sure Win slot game is probably the least pretty of the lot.

Unless, of course, you’re a sports betting fan. In which case there will be something about this horse racing slot that will certainly appeal to you.

However, there is no such thing as a sure win in this 25 paylines game, with it being a little harder to win than the other two slots above.

But that’s no bad thing.

Come for the free spins, fall in love with the wild

The free spins round is certainly exciting. Here you can get anything from 24 free spins at once, and up to 4x multiplier on the wins. The scatter ‘bookie’ symbol on the man, whispering to you which horse is almost certainly going to win, is the one you’ll think you’ll be watching for.

But in the end, it’s the wild that will bring home the bacon, as it comes with a 3x multiplier as standard.

Meaning you get excitement in the base game, even if your horse doesn’t win during the free spin.

Not a theme we love, but a well balanced game we thoroughly enjoyed.

Vegas Downtown Blackjack Gold

Saving the best till last, what we have here is a beautiful Android tablet and iPad blackjack game.

It plays as beautiful as it looks and deserved the larger screen to give it room to breathe and play. That said, it works equally well on smartphones, so don’t walk away just yet if you’re looking to play blackjack on mobile.

Not as good as online, but good enough

As an online casino game, it hold the advantage that you can play multiple hands. On mobile, you only have one hand, but connoisseurs of the game will appreciate the realistic look and feel, as well as the downtown rules.

For those of you who don’t know the difference, it’s simple enough, it just means that the game is played with two decks of 52 cards and the dealer peaks on 10 value cards and Aces.

Additional functionality includes being able to split up to 3 times to make 4 hands, including unlike 10 value cards, and you can double down on any two cards.

Finally, the dealer must hit a soft 17 or go bust.

This is a real as Vegas blackjack gets on your phone.
